BWT = birthweight – low birth weight values will produce lighter birth weight lambs.
WWT = weaning weight- the more positive ASBV will produce lambs that grow quicker to weaning
PWWT = postweaning weight – a higher value will produce faster growing lambs and reach target weights in a shorter time
PFAT = postweaning fat – the more negative the value, the leaner the lambs will be
PEMD = postweaning eye muscle depth – positive values will genetically have more muscle in the loin area and better carcass shape
PFEC = estimates an animals genetic potential for worm burdens. Lower ASBV’s are desirable.
CARCASS + = this standard index places 60% emphasis on pwwt(growth rate), 20% on pfat (carcass leanness), 20% on pemd(carcass muscling)
TRADE $ = targeting the production of sucker lambs 18 to 22 kg
LAMB 2020 = this index will suit those targeting a 22kg lamb carcass from either Merino or first –x ewe base where worms may be a significant challenge to lamb production. As with Trade and Export $ indexes, a value in LAMB 2020 reflects the improvement in lamb dollar value.
For example, lambs from a sire with a LAMB 2020 index of $113 will be worth $3 more than lambs from a sire with a LAMB 2020 index of $110

We suggest producers select the appropriate ASBVs that best suit their production systems.
For any assistance or more detailed explanation on ASBVs to compliment your production system, please ask David.

Inspection of sale rams is from 11.00 am on the day of the sale or by prior arrangement. Please join us for a light luncheon, and refreshments after the sale.
