After exhibiting a strong team at the Bendigo Poll Dorset show our rams will move to Tarcutta for the sale on Wednesday 15th September 2010. This will give mainland breeders the opportunity to physically inspect our high ranking Lambplan measured young stud sires.

Tarcutta is midway between Sydney and Melbourne, just off the Hume Highway. Felicity will continue to be our NSW contact person. Her continuing close association with the Valma & Rannoch Studs has given us this opportunity to further serve the interest of the breed in NSW.
The commercial excellence of our rams is independently measured by Lambplan. Breed type, physical correctness and excellence are measured by our continuing show ring success (most successful exhibitor Melbourne Royal Show 2009). The Valma stud has produced first prize winners and Championship & Reserve Championship winners over a period of 46 years.

Our contribution to the Poll Dorset breed can be gauged by the large number of Valma stud rams successfully used by fellow breeders throughout Australia and overseas.
Our current leading sire is Valma 623-07, without doubt the highest performing sire we have ever bred. Valma 623 has been used extensively in our flocks to build in his qualities for future benefit to our breeding programme.
His lower birth weight, higher eye muscle depth and clean points combined with his physical soundness stamped him as a sire of national importance. In 2009 after two seasons of heavy use, he stood 1st prize in the class over 1 ½ years at Melbourne Royal Show.
His progeny have been purchased by leading studs. Further progeny will be available for sale during 2010. A limited number of semen packages will be for sale privately.
